About Us

The Vancouver Chamber Players are a collective of professional musicians united by a shared curiosity for the chamber music repertoire's unexplored corners. We deliberately seek out the overlooked, the underperformed, and the forgotten — works by composers whose voices deserve a wider hearing, and pieces that, for reasons of fashion or circumstance, have slipped out of the standard concert rotation. In bringing this music back to life, we hope not just to entertain, but to widen what audiences understand chamber music to be.

Our mission is to:

  • promote the playing of chamber music, encouraging musicians and audiences alike to engage with this intimate art form, where every voice in the ensemble carries equal weight and the music's smallest details come alive

  • organize and promote classical chamber music ensembles, and arrange live concerts both for the general public and within the community itself, including performances brought directly into care homes, where access to live music is often limited

  • co-operate with similar organizations in sponsoring classical chamber music events, building a broader network of support for the art form across the region

Beyond the concert hall, much of our work happens in places where music is rarely heard live: care homes and hospitals, where a performance can mean far more than entertainment. It can offer comfort, connection, and a welcome break from routine for residents and patients alike. Making these concerts free is only possible with outside support, and that's where you come in. Your support for the series helps us secure the grants that keep these performances free, so that the people who might benefit most from live chamber music are never kept from it by cost.
